Investors Trade N158.5m Securities on NASD Exchange Thursday

Trading wrapped up on Thursday at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange flat as investors transacted shares worth N158.54 million at the session.

The value of transactions was 758 percent or N139.9 million higher than what was recorded at the previous session, N18.5 million.

Similarly, the volume of transaction rose by 131 percent or 933,973 units as 1.6 million units of stocks were exchanged compared with 713,960 units recorded on Wednesday.

In the same vein, the number of deals executed by market participants increased during the trading session by six deals or 75 percent as a total of 14 deals were recorded yesterday in contrast to eight deals achieved on Wednesday.

Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc recorded five deals, followed by FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc, which had four deals. Afriland Properties registered three deals, the Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc executed two deals, while Lighthouse Financial Plc posted a single deal.

Despite the rise in activity level, the key market performance indicators remained unchanged as the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) closed flat at 707.65 points, while the market capitalisation remained at N508.76 billion. Also, prices of shares listed on the exchange remained at their previous levels.

Insurance company, ARM Life Plc, remained at the most traded stock at the market (year-to-date), selling 7.4 billion units worth N4.6 billion, while Food Concept Plc has transacted 110 million units valued at N77 million, with CSCS Plc trading 16.6 million units of its shares worth N192.2 million.

By value (year-to-date), ARM Life Plc also claimed the top position with 7.4 billion units worth N4.6 billion. NDEP Plc was in second place with 6.4 million units worth N1.9 billion, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc occupied the third spot after trading 1.8 million units of its shares worth N226.5 million.
