Investors Trade N4.6bn Stocks on NASD OTC Exchange Thursday

Thursday’s session wrapped at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange with the market recording the highest turnover so far this year as N4.6 billion worth of shares were transacted by investors.

This indicated that total value of shares at the session rose by 1,070 percent from N392.5 million traded at the previous session on Wednesday. But this was not enough to push barometers up as the market closed in the flat territory again.

Into the fourth session for the week, the NASD market capitalisation saw no movement as it closed flat at N503.55 billion indicating no difference compared to what was quoted at the previous session.

Following the same trend, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI), also remained at 700.39 points, the same point recorded at the Wednesday’s session.

Also, recording a rise was the units of shares that was transacted as the day’s session saw a rise of 461,024 percent equivalent to 7.4 million units compared to the previous session where 1.6 million units of shares were transacted.

The session, however, saw a drop in the number of deals to 12 as only 11 deals were achieved compared with Wednesday’s session which recorded 23 deals. There was no price advancers or decliners as all trading companies retained their share price.

At the close of business, ARM Life Plc remained the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 7.4 billion units of its shares worth N4.6 billion traded by market participants.

The Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc was in second place with 10.7 million units traded at N120.6 million, while the Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc followed with 5.7 million units traded at N1.8 billion.

In terms of value of trades (year-to-date), ARM Life displaced NDEP after trading 7.4 billion units worth N4.6 billion, while NDEP Plc fell to the second place with 5.7 million units valued at N1.8 billion, with FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc in third spot after selling 1.02 million units worth N128 million.
