An Economic and Investment Summit is set to take place in Kano State from April 24-25, 2017 and it is expected to be declared open by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The programme is themed Transforming the Economy of Kano State: Turning Challenges into Opportunities.

Expected to grace the occasion are the Kano State government officials and investors from different walks of life.

The summit is aimed at marketing the Kano State to local and international investors so as to grow and sustain its economy, as well as its investment fortunes.

Addressing a news conference at the Kano Government House, Chairman of the Summit and former Minster of National Planning, Mr Shamsudeen Usman, said the Emir of Kano, Mr Muhammad Sanusi II, will give the Keynote address titled ‘Kano Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.’

He said further that, “The summit would be the starting point of economic and investment sustainability in Kano,” pointing out that, “We intend to hold not only nationwide, but international summit aimed at marketing Kano, involving not only people from Kano and other parts of Nigeria, but the entire international community.”

Furthermore, “The summit will come up with a performance based implementation plan that the Governor can track including identification of infrastructural needs of the State, how they interact and be synchronized with the country’s national infrastructure plan.

“It will provide opportunity for investors to know infrastructure and other things Kano has in stock for them.”
