Lagos Okays Business Clinic for MSMEs, Releases N10b

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has disclosed that a business clinic would be organised for the Micro and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) sector of the Lagos economy.

Speaking on Thursday at the State House in Alausa, Ikeja, the Governor explained that this effort is aimed at growing the economy of the metropolitan state.

At the second edition of Lagos Corporate Assembly tagged ‘A+ Meets Business’, Mr Ambode also noted that over N10 billion has been released to the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (ETF) to grant loans to members of the informal sector.

The forum was organized by the state government to interact with members of the Organised Private Sector (OPS) as well as Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).

According to him, his administration has reactivated the Public Private Partnership Office in addition to harmonization of inspection of work places.

While commenting on efforts made so far to enhance the ease of doing business in the state, the Governor said an industrial park has been approved for location in Imota, while another industrial development centre was approved.

He stated that in a bid to scale up infrastructure, a summit on Infrastructure Financing would hold early next year.

Mr Ambode also told the business community that the state government was willing and ready to partner with any investor interested in investing in provision of critical infrastructures.

On international trade fair complex, the Governor said while awaiting the process to issue out another concession by the Federal Government and development which may take years, the state government, in the medium term, would look into the possibility of getting an investor to build a large convention/exhibition centre in the State.

Speaking on the Oshodi Transport Interchange and Airport Road currently under construction, Governor Ambode said the projects were conceived and being implemented to create massive jobs for the people, and also transform the face of Lagos forever.
