Lagos Woos Investors from Denmark, Netherlands

The Lagos State Government is encouraging investments from Denmark and the Netherlands in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, food, public health, transportation, economy, environment, waste management, and security, among others.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while meeting with the Netherlands Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Wouter Plomp and Consul General, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Mr Michel Deelen, said the state government was ready to explore collaboration opportunities in order to ensure sustainable energy supply and address energy poverty.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr Olalere Odusote, assured the envoys and investors of a business-friendly environment.

At the meeting held at the Lagos House in Marina, which also had the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Sune Krogstrup and the Consul General, Ms Jette Bjerrum, in attendance, Mr Sanwo-Olu said Lagos was open to business opportunities.

Speaking earlier, Mr Plomp said the Netherlands was ready and willing to partner with the Lagos State government for business opportunities and sustainability, as well as collaboration in the areas of waste management, rice mill, public health, agriculture and food security, among others.

On his part, Mr Krogstrup, who noted that Denmark had contributed greatly to Nigeria’s economy by creating job opportunities, asked for continuous and sustained collaborations and partnerships between his country and the state.

Also at the gathering were the Regional Chair for Boston Consulting Group (BCG) Europe, Middle East, South America and Africa (EMESA), Mr Matthias Tauber and the Leader of BCG Africa System, Ms Lisa Ivers.
