A notable brokerage company in Nigeria, Meristem Securities Limited, has obtained an ISO27001:2013 for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its clients’ information assets.

The capital market operator was specifically certified for complying with the globally recognised standard for Information Security Management Systems.

The certification was given to the Nigerian company after its Information Security Management System (ISMS) was evaluated by an accreditation body, MECB, and was found to comply with the standard.

The ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification is the highest global recognition for information protection and security, and Meristem has received this from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO).

Meristem, a financial services provider in the capital market, offers a wide range of products, including wealth management, stockbroking, financial advisory, trusteeship, registrar and probate management services, investment banking, lease, and loans.

According to the organisation, its major objective “is to create, preserve, and transfer wealth for all our clients.”

Reacting to the ISO certification, the firm said the “achievement proves that we are committed to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our client’s information assets. It also reinforces our commitment to ensuring high service standards.”

“We are committed to taking a comprehensive approach to information security to ensure the secure handling of our client’s confidential information while maintaining the trust they have placed in us,” it added.
