The online stockbroking platform of a popular brokerage firm in Nigeria, Morgan Capital, iTrade, suffered a technical glitch on Tuesday.

The situation prevented some investors from trading for a period of time until the issue was eventually resolved, Business Post gathered.

Earlier in the day, Morgan Capital informed its clients that it was embarking on a system upgrade aimed to deliver quality service to them and this apparently caused the service disruption witnessed by some investors.

“In a bid to serve you well and make our iTrade platform more secure and seamless, your most preferred stockbroking firm has made some level of changes to the platform and these include:

A new iTrade login URL (https://itrade.morgancapitalgroup.com/customers)

A new login page interface that allows you to enter your username first and then brings out the password field after clicking on the Next button.

Also, your well-known CSCS Account No is now regarded as Trading Account No or TAN for short.

“Subsequent changes emanating from the iTrade platform upgrade will be communicated to you in due course,” the notice had said.

But some investors were unable to access the platform and this caused panic for a while before the company swung into action to resolve the glitch.

“We received complaints of your inability to trade in the early trading sessions of the market today. This was due to an upgrade on our trading platform we initially communicated to you, which has to synchronize with the NGX trading engine.

“We are glad to inform you that your favourite trading platform is up and running.

“Kindly login and start trading now [and] thank you for choosing Morgan Capital Securities Limited,” another message seen by this newspaper stated.
