NASD Exchange Prints 0.14% Weekly Growth as Market Cap Hits N498bn

Last week, which was the 50th trading week on the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange, ended positive with the market capitalisation rising to N498.04 billion from the previous week’s N497.33 billion, indicating a 0.14 percent increase.

At the close of transactions on Friday, December 12, 2019, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) also improved by 0.14 percent to 693.22 points from 692.24 points.

FrieslandCampina Wamco was the most traded security by volume, trading 616,000 units, while Niger Delta Exploration and Production Plc followed with 152,000 units exchanged by investors.

Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc traded 134,000 units, Nipco Plc transacted 50,000 units, while Food Concepts exchanged 8,000 units during the week.

In terms of value, FrieslandCampina Wamco topped the most active stock chart with N73.9 million worth of shares representing 59.4 percent and was followed by the Niger Delta Exploration and Production Plc and Nipco Plc with N45.5 million (36.5 percent) and N3.6 million (2.9 percent) respectively.

Also, investors transacted N1.5 million (1.2 percent) shares of Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS), while NASD Plc traded with N8,000 (0.01) worth of shares.

Data from NASD Exchange showed that Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers was the top broker for the week, while FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc ended the week as the only gainer as its share increased by 0.60 percent to close at N120 per share.

The volume of trades transacted by investors from the beginning of the year to last Friday stood at 2.68 billion units, while the value closed at N10.1 billion and the number of deals at 2,686.

A total of 39 securities are admitted on the exchange with a total of 234 registered brokers and 133 participating institutions. The total volume demutualized stood at 62.5 billion (40.9 percent).
