NASD Exchange Records Further 0.63% Loss

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange witnessed a further 0.63 per cent drop on Tuesday, August 5 despite closing with no single price gainer and loser.

During the session, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went down by 23.33 points to close at 3,676.68 points, in contrast to the 3,700.01 points it ended on Monday, and the market capitalisation lost N13.66 billion to close at N2.153 trillion compared with the N2.166 trillion it finished at the preceding session.

Yesterday, there was an 18.6 per cent fall in the volume of securities to 979,860 units from the 1.2 million units traded in the last session, the value of securities slumped by 8.4 per cent to N26.2 million from the N28.5 million posted a day earlier, and the number of deals increased by 6.1 per cent to 35 deals from 33 deals.

At the close of business, Okitipupa Plc was still the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 154.2 million units transacted for N5.0 billion, followed by Air Liquide Plc with 507.2 million units worth N4.2 billion, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 43.3 million units valued at N1.9 billion.

Also, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc remained as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 1.1 billion units worth N354.4 million, trailed by Impresit Bakolori Plc with 536.9 million units sold for N524.8 million, and Air Liquide Plc with 507.2 million units valued at N4.2 billion.
