NASD Exchange Weakens by 0.64% as NDEP, Two Others Lose

Depreciation in the stock prices of Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc, Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc weakened the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange by 0.64 per cent on Wednesday, June 21.

NDEP Plc lost N5.50 during the session to sell at N245.00 per share compared with the previous day’s N250.00 per share, CSCS Plc depreciated by N1.11 to finish at N16.50 per share, in contrast to the preceding day’s N17.65 per share, and FrieslandCampina Plc went down by 9 Kobo to close the day at N16.54 per share versus Tuesday’s closing price of N17.65 per share.

These losses depleted the market capitalisation of the NASD exchange by N6.64 billion to N1.027 trillion from the N1.034 trillion of the previous session, as the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) lost 4.79 points to end the day at 742.92 points as against the 747.71 points it recorded at the previous session.

The activity chart was mixed yesterday as the volume of securities traded at the bourse shrank by 41.5 per cent to 709,072 units from 1.21 million units, while the value of shares traded by investors increased by 387.4 per cent to N32.5 million from N6.67 million, and the number of deals went up by 118.2 per cent to 24 deals from the 11 deals achieved in the previous trading day.

Geo-Fluids Plc remained the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 842.5 million units valued at N1.3 billion, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc stood in second place with 630.1 units worth N49.6 million, while UBN Property Plc was in third place with 395.9 million units valued at N336.6 million.

VFD Group Plc also closed the trading day as the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) as it traded 11.1 million units worth N2.5 billion, Geo-Fluids Plc followed with 842.5 million units valued at N1.3 billion, while FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc was in third place with 18.1 million units worth N1.3 billion.
