NASD Index Dips 0.15% as Market Cap Falls N4bn

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange slid 0.15 per cent on Thursday, September 10, with the market capitalisation dropping by N4.00 billion to N2.717 trillion from N2.721 trillion, and the NASD Security Index (NSI) sliding by 6.65 points to 4,526.76 points from 4,533.41 points.
The loss was triggered by profit-taking in two securities, led by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc, which lost N2.15 to close at N167.84 per unit versus the previous day’s N169.99 per unit, and Food Concepts Plc depreciated by 19 Kobo to N2.30 per share from N2.49 per share.
Business Post reports that there were two price gainers yesterday, with Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) up by N1.01 to N106.88 per unit from N105.87 per unit. Nipco Plc gained N1.00 to close at N458.00 per share compared with the previous session’s N457.00 per share.
During the session, the volume of securities declined by 62.2 per cent to 377,601 units from 998,890 units, the value of securities fell by 16.6 per cent to N51.1 million from N61.2 million, and the number of deals decreased by 32.4 per cent to 23 deals from 34 deals.
Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) Plc remained the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units valued at N8.4 billion, trailed by Infrastructure Credit Guarantee (Infracredit) Plc with 2.3 billion units exchanged for N6.5 billion, and CSCS Plc with 81.8 million units worth N6.0 billion.
GNI Plc also finished the session as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units transacted for N8.4 billion, followed by Infracredit Plc with 2.3 billion units traded for N6.5 billion, and Resourcery Plc with 1.1 billion units sold for N415.7 million.
