NASD Index Drops 0.67% in Week 29 Amid Rise in Stock Prices

Despite witnessing a rise in the prices of six stocks at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange, transactions closed bearish by 0.67 per cent in the 29th week of trading in 2022.

The NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) went down by 5.16 points to wrap the week at 766.92 points compared with the 772.08 points recorded in the previous week, while the market capitalisation depleted by N10 billion to N1.010 trillion from N1.020 trillion in the preceding week.

The negative outcome was triggered by the loss posted by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc in the week, losing 8.2 per cent to settle at N94.14 per share versus the previous week’s N102.50.

But CitiTrust Holdings Plc, Central Securities Clearing Systems(CSCS) Plc, Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc, Afriland Properties Plc, Nipco Plc, and NASD Plc.

CitiTrust Holdings PLC, appreciated by 1.8 per cent to close at N9.50 per share compared with the preceding week’s N8.00 per share, CSCS Plc rose by 7.9 per cent to N14.92 from N13.83 per share, NDEP Plc improved by 6.6 per cent to N210.00 per share from N197.00 per share, Afriland Properties Plc gained 2.0 per cent to sell for N1.02 per unit versus the preceding week’s N1.00 per share, Nipco Plc increased by 1.8 per cent to N58.00 per share from N57.00 per share, while NASD Plc chalked up0.3 per cent to trade at N18.15 per unit in contrast to the previous week’s N18.09 per unit.

In the week, the value of trades went up by 318.5 per cent to N89.6 million from N21.4 million, the volume increased by 12.9 per cent to 4.2 million units from 3.7 million units, while the number of deals jumped by 82.4 per cent to 62 deals from 34 deals.

At the close of the week, CSCS Plc was the most traded security by volume with 3.5 million units. FrieslandCampina traded 301,563 units, Citi Trust Holdings Plc exchanged 256,431 units, Nipco Plc transacted 40,000 units, and NASD Plc traded 21,000 units.

By value, CSCS Plc also topped the chart with N51.7 million, FrieslandCampina followed with N28.8 million, NDEP Plc posted N3.7 million, Citi Trust Holdings Plc recorded N2.4 million while Nipco Plc raked in N2.3 million.

In the year so far, investors have traded a total of 3.2 billion units worth N22.0 billion in 1,681 deals.
