NASD Index Rises 0.85% as FrieslandCampina, Three Others Gain Weight

Four equities boosted the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange further by 0.85 per cent on Wednesday, September 2.

FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc gained N9.13 at midweek to close at N169.05 per unit compared with the previous day’s N159.92 per unit, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc appreciated by N1.17 to trade at N95.00 per share versus N93.83 per share, Geo-Fluids Plc rose by 20 Kobo to N2.24 per unit from N2.04 per unit, and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc grew by 3 Kobo to 54 Kobo per share from 51 Kobo per share.

When the market closed for the day, the NASD Security Index (NSI) increased by 70.87 points to close at 4,433.17 points compared with the previous day’s 4,395.94 points, and the market capitalisation added N42.54 billion to end at N2.66 trillion versus Tuesday’s N2.638 trillion.

The market recorded a price decliner yesterday, and it was Afriland Properties Plc, which lost N1.90 to end at N18.10 per unit compared with the N20.00 per unit it ended a day earlier.

As for the activity chart, the volume of trades rose by 121.1 per cent to 1.2 million units from the previous session’s 526,020 units, the value of transactions increased by 86.4 per cent to N103.7 million from the previous day’s N55.6 million, and the number of deals jumped by 69.6 per cent to 39 deals from the previous day’s 23 deals.

Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) Plc remained the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units sold for N8.4 billion, followed by Infrastructure Credit Guarantee (Infracredit) Plc with 2.3 billion units valued at N6.5 billion in trades, and CSCS Plc with 81.0 million units exchanged for N5.9 billion.

GNI Plc also ended the day as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units worth N8.4 billion, followed by Infracredit Plc with 2.3 billion units traded for N6.5 billion, and Resourcery Plc with 1.1 billion units transacted for N415.7 million.
