NASD Investors Grin With N64bn Weekly Gain

For the third straight week, the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange ended on a positive note, with investors grinning after their portfolios increased by 4.98 per cent or N64 billion at the close of the trading week.

Data obtained by Business Post showed that the market capitalisation of the alternative stock exchange ballooned to N1.358 trillion from the previous week’s N1.294 trillion, as the NASD unlisted security index (NSI) expanded by 47.51 points to 1,002.06 points from 954.55 points.

In the week, there were five price gainers and three price losers.

Acorn Petroleum lPlc rose by 28.3 per cent to 77 Kobo per unit from 60 Kobo per unit, Aradel Holdings Plc appreciated by 22.5 per cent to N1,507.22 per share from N1,230.10 per cent, Air Liquide Plc improved by 1o per cent to N6.05 per share from N5.55 per cent, 11 Plc increased by 6.6 per cent to N210.00 per unit from N197.00 per unit, and Geo-Fluids Plc gained 3.6 per cent to end at N2.59 per unit versus the previous week’s N2.50 per unit.

Conversely, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc fell by 7.1 per cent to 26 Kobo per share from 28 Kobo per share, UBN Property decreased by 2.7 per cent to N1.80 per unit from N1.85 per unit, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc weakened by 0.5 per cent to N79.95 per share from N80.33 per share.

A look at the activity chart indicated that the number of deals executed during the period dropped by 38.33 per cent to 74 deals from 120 deals, the value of transacted went down by 38.7 per cent to N167.5 million from N273.1 million, while the volume of transactions increased by 52.2 per cent to 56.2 million units from 36.9 million units.

IPWA Plc was the most active stock by volume with 48.9 million units, UBN Property Plc posted 3.9 million units, FrieslandCampina traded 1.1 million units, Acorn Petroleum recorded 900,000 units, and IGI Plc exchanged 851,400 units.

However, FrieslandCampina closed as the most active by value with N86.6 million, Aradel Plc transacted N42.2 million, IPWA recorded N24.4 million, UBN Property traded N6.8 million, and IGI Plc posted N4.3 million.
