NASD Investors’ Portfolios Shrink 0.84% in Week 43

The 43rd trading week in 2023 ended on a negative note on the floor of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange, with a week-on-week decline of 0.84 per cent.

The N10 billion lost by NASD investors during the five-day trading week weakened the market capitalisation of the bourse to N1.120 trillion from the N1.130 trillion it ended in the previous week of trading.

In the same vein, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) depreciated by 6.98 points to settle at 826.65 points compared with the previous trading week’s 833.63 points.

FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc closed as the worst-performing stock after it lost 5.3 per cent to quote at N76.69 per share versus the previous week’s N84.15 per share, Food Concepts Plc fell by 5.0 per cent to end at N1.52 per unit versus N1.60 per unit and Mixta Real Estate Plc recorded a 1.9 per cent loss to end the week at N1.49 per share versus the preceding week’s N1.52 per unit.

On the flip side, Air Liquide Plc was the best-performing equity as it gained 10 per cent to finish at N5.50 per share compared with the previous week’s N5.00 per share, NASD Plc grew by 4.3 per cent to close at N12.10 per unit compared with the earlier week’s N11.60 per unit, 11 Plc expanded by 2.3 per cent to end at N133.00 per unit compared with the preceding week’s N130.00 per unit, UBN Property Plc increased by 2.26 per cent to N1.36 per unit from N1.33 per unit, and Geo-Fluids Plc rose by 0.7 per cent to N2.99 per share from N2.97 per share.

Last week, the total value of stocks traded jumped by 47.1 per cent to N491.9 million units from N334.5 million, the volume of shares surged by 507.9 per cent to 143.2 million from 23.6 million, and the number of deals went up by 21.1 per cent to 92 deals from 76 deals in Week 42.

Aradel Holdings Plc was the most traded stock by value with N210.86 million, UBN Property Plc traded N179.58 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc exchanged N60.79 million, Geo-Fluids Plc transacted N30.52 million, and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc traded N5.65 million.

But UBN Property Plc topped as the most active by volume with 131.15 million units, Geo-Fluids Plc followed with 10.27 million units, FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc posted 0.76 million units, Aradel Plc recorded 0.35 million units, and Food Concepts Plc transacted 0.29 million units.
