NASD Investors’ Wealth Shrinks by N2.61 billion in Week 50

The value of shares transacted on the floor of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange depleted by 0.28 per cent last week, which was the 50th trading week of the year.

Analysis by Business Post revealed that this reduced NASD investors’ wealth by N2.61 billion in the week to 930.74 trillion from N933.35 billion in Week 49.

In the same vein, the NASD Securities Exchange Index (NSI) went down by 1.98 points to close at 708.32 points, in contrast to 710.30 points of the preceding week.

It was observed that the bourse recorded no single price gainer, but there were price losers led by UBN Property Plc, which fell by 8.9 per cent to settle at 81 per share Kobo compared with the previous close of 89 Kobo per share.

Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc went down by 3.00 per cent to N175.00 per unit from N180.42 per unit, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc depreciated by 6.7 per cent to N65.90 per share from N73.00 per cent.

In the week, market participants traded securities worth N32.1 million, 23.6 per cent lower than the N41.9 million in the previous week, the trading volume improved by 644.5 per cent to 10.4 million units from the previous week’s 1.4 million units.

Last week, UBN Property Plc was the busiest stock by volume with 10 million units, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc transacted 331,017 million units, Geo-Fluids Plc sold 53,333 units, NDEP Plc recorded 10,835 units, while Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc exchanged 6,850 units.

In terms of value, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc was the most active stock in Week 50 as it traded N21.8 million, followed by UBN Property Plc with N8.1 million. NDEP Plc transacted N1.9 million, 11 Plc sold N113,498, and CSCS Plc traded N91,825.

On a year-to-date basis, investors have traded 3.80 billion units of securities valued at N27.6 billion in 2,587 deals, according to data obtained from the bourse
