NASD OTC Bourse Records 0.64% Decline

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange fell by 0.64 per cent on Thursday, September 2 on the back of the negative price movements in the shares of Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc and Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group Plc.

Both companies had lifted the unlisted securities market at the previous day but they reversed the gains yesterday after CSCS Plc lost 80 kobo or 4.7 per cent to close the session at N17.20 per share in contrast to N18 per share it closed on Wednesday, while NGX Group Plc depreciated by 8 kobo or 0.5 per cent to close at N16.01 per unit compared to N16.09 per unit of the last trading session.

The depreciation by the duo depleted the market capitalisation of the NASD OTC bourse by N4.15 billion to N632.87 billion from N634.74 billion and deflated the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) by 4.79 points to 739.89 points from 744.68 points of the previous session.

At the market yesterday, the volume of securities traded by investors increased significantly by 89.6 per cent to 1.3 million units from the previous trading day’s 864,398 units, the value of the shares also rose by 86.0 per cent to N20.8 million from the N11.2 million made on Wednesday, while the number of deals executed by the market participants increased by 57.1 per cent to 22 deals from the 14 deals executed at the midweek session.

Geo Fluids Plc closed the session as the company with the highest number of shares transacted by investors on a year-to-date basis with 1.0 billion units worth N700.1 million. NGX Group Plc trailed with 416.6 million units valued at N8.6 billion, while Food Concepts Plc was in third place with 295.0 million units worth N386.0 million.

In terms of value, NGX Group Plc topped the chart with the sale of 416.6 million units valued at N8.6 billion, VFD Group Plc has transacted 6.6 million units worth N2.2 billion, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc has exchanged 8.2 million units worth N1.0 billion.
