Despite an improvement in the level of activity, the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange depreciated on Tuesday by 1.18 per cent, extending its stay in the danger zone for another trading session.

It was observed that a woeful performance put up by FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc contributed to the downfall of the NASD OTC bourse yesterday.

The milk maker lost N7.59 or 7.26 per cent to settle at N97.00 per share in contrast to the preceding session’s closing value of N104.59 per share.

Business Post reports that FrieslandCampina erased the gains posted by the duo of Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc and CitiTrust Holdings Plc.

NDEP Plc appreciated yesterday by N14 or 7.57 per cent to close at N199 per unit versus N185.00 per unit, while CitiTrust Plc improved its share price by 20 kobo or 3.45 per cent to N6.00 per share from N5.80 per share.

When the exchange closed for the session, the market capitalisation was down by N12.08 billion to N1.008 billion from N1.020 billion, while the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) shed 9.18 points to wrap the session at 766.14 points compared with 775.32 points recorded in the previous session.

At the market yesterday, investors traded 246,172 units of securities, 1,629.3 per cent higher than the 14,235 units of securities traded at the preceding session. The value of shares also rose by 524.5 per cent to N15.5 million from N2.4 million while the number of deals increased by 100 per cent to 12 deals from six deals.

AG Mortgage Bank Plc was the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 2.3 billion units worth N1.2 billion, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc followed with 672.9 million units worth N14.0 billion while Food Concepts Plc has transacted 146.0 million units valued at N126.7 million.

The most traded stock by value (year-to-date) was still CSCS Plc with its 672.9 million units valued at N14.0 billion, trailed by VFD Group with 9.6 million units worth N3.0 billion, and FrieslandCampina with 9.5 billion units valued at N1.2 billion.
