NASD OTC Exchange Makes 0.82% Gain in Opening Session

The trio of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, VFD Group Plc, and UBN Property Plc helped the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange up by 0.82 per cent on Monday, January 30.

FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc appreciated during the session by N3.59 to end at N66.07 per share versus last Friday’s N62.48 per share, VFD Group Plc improved by 88 Kobo to close at N244.88 per unit, in contrast to the previous session’s closing price of N244.00 per unit, and UBN Property Plc added 7 Kobo to its value to trade at 77 Kobo per unit compared with the previous session’s 70 Kobo per unit.

At the close of business, the market capitalisation of the NASD OTC exchange grew by N10.43 billion to close at N931.63 billion versus N924.06 billion, while the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) advanced by 5.37 points to finish at 708.99 points compared with 703.23 points.

Yesterday, the volume of stocks exchanged at the market slumped by 84.7 per cent as 3.2 million units of securities were transacted compared with the 21.1 million units of securities recorded last Friday.

However, the value of shares traded during the trading session increased by 10.1 per cent to N34.8 million from N31.7 million, as the number of deals jumped by 21.4 per cent as market participants executed 17 deals at the bourse, in contrast to the 14 deals carried out in the prior trading session.

Geo-Fluids Plc maintained its position as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis, with the sale of 81.2 million units worth N68.8 million. UBN Property Plc stood in second place with 32.7 million units valued at N23.4 million, while NASD Plc was in third place with 1.9 million units valued at N23.6 million.

Also, VFD Group maintained its position as the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis, with 534,162 units sold for N130.4 million, Geo-Fluids Plc was in second place for trading 81.2 million units for N68.8 million, and FrieslandCampina WAMCO Group Plc was in third place with 991,225 units valued at N65.1 million.
