NASD OTC Exchange Trades 0.09% Higher Friday

Trading activities on the floor of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed bullish on Friday by 0.09 per cent.

According to data from the exchange, the NASD unlisted securities index (NSI) increased by 0.65 points during the session to close at 734.39 points compared with 733.74 points it ended on Thursday.

In the same trend, the bourse’s market capitalisation closed at N539.46 billion after jumping by N480 million from the preceding day’s N538.98 billion.

However, during the session, the volume of shares transacted by market participants reduced by 40.1 per cent to 28,420 units from 47,450 units recorded on Thursday but the value of the trades increased by 34.6 per cent to N7.7 million from N5.7 million realised at the preceding session.

Also, the number of deals executed by investors increased by 42.86 per cent as 10 deals were completed in the session as against the seven deals of the previous session.

A breakdown showed that eight of deals were carried out by the day’s lone price advancer, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, which maintained its positive momentum at the market.

The equity price of the milk producer closed for the day 0.35 per cent or 49 kobo higher to N140.49 per unit from N140 per unit it previously sold. The company’s stock grew after the completion of the acquisition of PZ Cussons Holdings’ dairy arm, Nutricima.

During the session, Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) and Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc recorded one deal each.

At the close of transactions, ARM Life Plc maintained its position as the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 7.4 billion units of its shares worth N4.6 billion. CSCS Plc was in second place with 203 million units traded at N2.7 billion, while Food Concepts Plc followed with 128.1 million units traded at N90.2 million.

In terms of the most traded stock by value (year-to-date), ARM Life Plc still retained the top spot after transacting 7.4 billion units worth N4.6 billion. NDEP Plc came next with 10.4 million units of securities exchanged for N3.2 billion while CSCS Plc sat in third place for selling 203 million units valued at N2.7 billion.
