Appreciation in the stock prices of three equities saw the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange close 0.04 per cent northwards on Friday, January 26.

The market capitalisation rose by N490 million to close at N1.388 trillion compared with the N1.387 trillion quoted at the previous session, as the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) improved by 0.36 points to end the day at 1,204.08 points as against 1,203.72 points it recorded at the previous session.

Afriland Properties Plc recorded a 34 Kobo appreciation to sell at N3.80 per share compared to the N3.46 per share it closed in the previous session, Geo-Fluids Plc chalked up 4 Kobo to trade at N2.59 per unit versus Thursday’s value of N2.55 per unit, and Acorn Petroleum Plc gained 1 Kobo to sell at 85 Kobo per share versus the preceding day’s 84 Kobo per share.

Conversely, UBN Property Plc depreciated during the trading session by 3 Kobo to close at N1.72 per unit, in contrast to the preceding day’s N1.75 per unit.

Yesterday, the volume of securities traded at the bourse went down by 44.5 per cent to 505,353 units from the 910,594 units transacted by market participants a day earlier, the value of securities nosedived by 81.9 per cent to N3.1 million from N17.3 million, while the number of deals increased by 9.5 per cent to 23 deals from the 21 deals executed in the preceding trading session.

IPWA Plc remained the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 48.9 million units worth N24.4 million, Geo-Fluids was in second place with 30.1 million units valued at N73.6 million and UBN Property Plc stood in third place with 29.9 million units transacted for N52.3 million.

Aradel Plc was the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 347,435 units valued at N447.5 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc followed with 2.2 million units worth N169.8 million, and Geo-Fluids Plc was in third place with 30.1 million units sold for N73.6 million.
