NASD OTC Securities Exchange Grows 0.61% in Week 36

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange appreciated in Week 36 by 0.61 per cent after the share prices of five companies compressed the losses posted by four firms on the alternative stock exchange.

This pushed the market capitalisation of the bourse higher by N10 billion to N1.12 trillion from the N1.11 trillion achieved in Week 35, as the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) increased by 4.82 points to 796.04 from 791.22 points.

Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc increased by 16.7 per cent to close at 21 Kobo per unit compared with last week’s 13 Kobo per unit, Aradel Holdings Plc rose by 12.2 per cent to N507.01 per share from N451.89 per share, Nipco Plc expanded by 10.1 per cent to N86.52 per share from N78.65 per share, Afriland Properties Plc improved by 1.8 per cent to N3.42 per unit from N3.36 per unit, and UBN Property Plc jumped by 0.9 per cent to N1.11 per share versus the preceding week’s N1.1 per share.

On the flip side, 11 Plc fell by 4.4 per cent to close at N172.00 per unit versus N180.00 per unit, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc dropped 2.3 per cent to end at N73.29 per unit, in contrast to N75.00 per unit, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc fell by 1.1 per cent to N17.00 per share from N17.19 per share, and Geo-Fluids Plc shrank by 0.7 per cent to close at N2.83 per unit versus the previous week’s N2.85 per unit.

In the week, there was a 98.6 per cent drop in the total volume of trades to 7.4 million units from 513.8 million units, there was a 75.0 per cent decline in the total value of transactions to N153.9 million from N615.8 million, and the number of deals remained unchanged at 68 deals.

Trading data for the week showed that Geo-Fluids Plc was the busiest by volume with 5.04 million units, CSCS Plc traded 1.01 million units, IGI Plc exchanged 0.71 million units, 11 Plc transacted 0.21 million units, and Aradel Holdings Plc traded 0.15 million units.

By value, Aradel Holdings Plc topped with N75.0 million, UBN Property Plc posted N36.5 million units, CSCS Plc recorded N17.4 million units, Geo-Fluids Plc posted N14.1 million units, and VFD Group Plc traded N6.6 million.
