Depreciation in the stock prices of three companies on the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange weakened the trading platform by 0.13 per cent on Tuesday, March 12.

Data showed that the market capitalisation of the alternative stock exchange fell by N1.85 billion yesterday to close at N1.464 trillion compared with Monday’s closing value of N1.466 trillion and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) dropped 1.36 points to end the day at 1,080.35 points as against the 1,081.71 points it recorded in the previous session.

FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc recorded a N1.22 depreciation during the session to sell at N72.00 per share compared to N73.22 per share of the previous session, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc declined by 4 Kobo to close the day at N21.96 per unit, in contrast to the preceding day’s N22.00 per unit, and Mixta Real Estate Plc went down by 1 Kobo to trade at N1.63 per unit versus the previous session’s N1.64 per unit.

But UBN Property gained 9 Kobo to close at N1.83 per share versus Monday’s N1.74 per share, and Afriland Property Plc appreciated by 24 Kobo to finish at N5.21 per unit versus N4.97 per unit.

A look at the activity chart showed that the volume of securities traded at the bourse by investors increased by 3,560.9 per cent to 32.5 million units from 886,437 units, but the value of securities tumbled by 68.8 per cent to N46.2 million from N147.7 million, and the number of deals jumped by 9.1 per cent to 24 deals from 22 deals.

The most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis was IPWA Plc with a turnover of 79.9 million units worth N39.8 million, Mixta Real Estate Plc occupied the second spot with 69.9 million units worth N114.6 million, and the third spot was taken by Geo-Fluids Plc with 48.0 million units valued at N118.7 million.

The most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis was Aradel Holdings Plc with 2.1 million units valued at N4.5 billion, followed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 4.7 million units sold for N354.2 million, and CSCS Plc with 6.2 million units worth N123.5 million.
