NASD Securities Exchange Gains 0.1% in Week 41

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed the 41st week of trading this year on a positive, with 0.01 per cent growth spurred by three companies.

These firms admitted on the exchange that triggered the growth at the NASD securities exchange last week were NASD Plc, Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc; and Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc.

At the close of transactions in the week, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) appreciated by 0.73 points to 747.53 points from 746.8 points, while the market capitalisation rose by N600 million to N617.59 billion from the preceding week’s N616.99 billion.

As for the gainers’ table, NASD Plc topped with a price appreciation of 14.2 per cent to settle at N13.70 per unit compared with N12.00 per unit it closed at the preceding week.

CSCS Plc improved by 8.1 per cent to trade at N17.95 per share as against the earlier week’s N16.60 per share, while NDEP Plc chalked up 2.0 per cent to quote at N250.00 per unit in contrast to N245.00 per unit of the previous week.

Business Post reports that last week, the market reported a price decliner and this was FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc, which lost 6.2 per cent to close at N120.00 per share versus N128.00 per share it finished a week earlier.

In the week, there was a 93.3 per cent decrease in the total value of securities traded by investors to N38.9 million from N584.5 million in the previous week.

In the same vein, the volume of stocks transacted in week 41 decreased to 2.1 million units from 1.1 billion units in week 40, while the number of deals rose by 5.0 per cent to 42 trades from 40 trades in the earlier week.

At the close of the week, NASD Plc was the most traded security by volume with 1.7 million units. CSCS Plc traded 317,707 units, NDEP Plc exchanged 32,400 units, Nipco Plc transacted 18,232 units, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc traded 10,478 units.

In terms of the value of trades in the week, NASD Plc also topped with N22.8 million, NDEP Plc followed with N8.2 million, CSCS Plc posted N5.3 million, Nipco Plc recorded N1.4 million while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc raked in N1.3 million.

In the year so far, investors have traded a total of 12.8 billion units in 4,606 deals worth N29.7 billion.
