NASD Unlisted Security Index Sheds 0.04% to 1,028.33 Points

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange opened the week (Monday, April 15) with a 0.04 per cent decline amid cautious trading by investors.

This led to the shortening of the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) by 0.46 points at the close of business to 1,028.33 points from the 1,028.79 points recorded in the previous session.

In the same vein, the market capitalisation of the bourse decreased by N620 million to wrap the session at N1.408 trillion compared with N1.409 trillion of last Friday.

Yesterday, UBN Property Plc recorded a loss of 7 Kobo as its price ended at N1.73 per unit compared with the preceding day’s N1.80 per unit, and Afriland Properties Plc lost 25 Kobo to sell at N10.00 per share, in contrast to the previous session’s N10.25 per share.

However, Capital Bancorp Plc ended the session as the lone price gainer, rising by 11 Kobo to N2.21 per unit from N2.10 per unit.

The value of securities traded during the trading day decreased by 91.6 per cent to N4.9 million from N58.9 million, the volume of shares bought and sold by the market participants went down by 67.3 per cent to 745,587 units from 2.3 million units, and the number of deals carried out during the trading day plunged by 31.8 per cent to 15 deals from the 22 deals executed in the previous trading day.

At the close of business, Capital Hotels Plc had the highest volume of stocks sold on a year-to-date basis with 228.6 million units valued at N1.1 billion, trailed by IPWA Plc with the sale of 79.9 million units for N40.0 million, and Mixta Real Estate Plc with 69.9 million units worth N114.6 million.

But Aradel Holdings Plc was the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 3.4 million units sold for N6.9 billion, followed by Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc with 45.1 million units valued at N1.2 billion, and Capital Hotels Plc with 228.6 million worth N1.1 billion.
