NDEP, Friesland Lift NASD OTC Bourse by 0.15%

Appreciation in the stock prices of Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc and FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc ensured that the bulls remained on the floor of the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Tuesday, July 6.

Friesland for the second consecutive day was bullish as its stocks added 76 kobo or 0.63 per cent to its previous value of N119.24 to close at N20.

On the part of the oil and gas investment company, NDEP Plc, it recorded a 49 kobo or 0.17 per cent appreciation to sell at N280.50 compared to N280.01 it traded at the previous session.

The gains by the two companies increased the market capitalisation of the NASD OTC Bourse by 0.15 per cent or N780 million to close at N536.87 billion compared with N536.09 billion it closed at the previous session.

The expansion also got to the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) as it closed 1.09 points higher to 755.29 points from 754.20 points it recorded on Monday.

Business Post reports that there were price decliners at the market yesterday with the share price of Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc going down by one kobo or 0.05 per cent to N18.54 from N18.55, while The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group also lost one kobo or 0.06 per cent to close at N17.73 in contrast to the previous N17.74.

On the activity chart, there was a rise in the volume of securities traded at the bourse with investors exchanging 9.0 million units, 493.6 per cent higher than the 1.5 million units transacted by market participants at the last session.

Equally, there was a rise in the value of shares traded by 471.3 per cent as securities worth N219.8 million exchanged hands versus Monday’s N38.5 million.

In the same vein, the number of deals executed by the traders increased by 227.8 per cent to 59 deals from 18 deals carried out at the preceding day.

With 1.0 billion units of its shares traded for N700.1 million, Geo Fluids Plc was the most active stock by volume on a year-to-date basis. NGX Group trailed with 308.1 million units valued at N6.8 billion, while Swap Technologies & Telecomms Plc has transacted 46.6 million units worth N41.0 million.

In terms of value, the company with the highest value of traded stocks on a year-to-date basis was NGX Group with 308.1 million units worth N6.8 billion. NDEP kept the second spot with 3.2 million units worth N966.3 million, while Friesland held the third spot with 6.7 million units valued at N834.3 million.
