NDEP, Two Others Weaken Unlisted Securities Index by 0.45%

Depreciation in the stock prices of Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc weakened the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange by 0.45 per cent on Friday, August 4.

NDEP Plc recorded a N16.21 decline during the trading day to sell at N350.00 per share compared to N366.21 per share of the previous session, CSCS Plc went down by 40 Kobo to N18.00 per share from N18.40 per share, and FrieslandCampina Plc shrank by 12 Kobo to close the day at N76.50 per unit versus Thursday’s closing price of N76.62 per unit.

The trio pushed the 1 Kobo chalked up by Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc, closing at 10 Kobo per unit, in contrast to the preceding day’s 9 Kobo per unit.

As a result, the market capitalisation of the bourse depreciated by N5.03 billion to N1.120 trillion from the N1.125 trillion of the previous session, while the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) shed 3.64 points to end the day at 809.84 points as against the 813.48 points it recorded at the previous session.

At the market yesterday, investors transacted 9.8 million units of securities, 712.8 per cent higher than the 1.2 million units of securities transacted at the last trading session.

Equally, the value of shares traded during the trading day increased by 10,964.1 per cent to N1.7 billion from N15.6 million, and the number of deals rose by 57.1 per cent to 22 deals from 14 deals.

CSCS Plc finished the session as the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 1.1 billion units valued at N21.2 billion, trailed by Geo-Fluids with 631.0 units sold for N1.1 billion, and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc with 610.7 million units valued at N48.4 million.

Also, CSCS Plc closed the day as the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) with 1.1 billion units worth N21.2 billion, trailed by VFD Group with 26.4 million units valued at N5.9 billion, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 18.6 million units worth N1.3 billion.
