A decline of 0.35 per cent was recorded by the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Wednesday, November 1 as a result of the losses posted by two shares on the platform.
At the session, the stock prices of Aradel Holdings Plc and Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc dropped, while the value of FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc gained, though it could not prevent the bourse from going down.
Aradel Holdings fell by N47.70 to end at N602.00 per unit versus Tuesday’s closing price of N649.70 per unit and CSCS Plc declined by 10 Kobo to close at N20.10 per share compared to the preceding session’s N2o.20 per share.
However, the stock price of FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc improved by N3.56 in the midweek session to N80.00 per unit from N76.44 per unit.
When trading activities were concluded for the day, the value of the Nigerian unlisted equities went down by N3.91 billion to N1.123 trillion from N1.126 trillion, and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) slid by 2.88 points to wrap the session at 828.21 points compared with the 831.09 points posted in the previous session.
The level of transactions increased yesterday as investors traded 411,002 units of securities compared with the 41,185 units of securities traded a day earlier, implying an increase in the volume of transactions by 897.9 per cent.
Also, shares worth N1.2 million exchanged hands on Wednesday compared with the N18.5 million achieved on Tuesday, indicating a 135.7 per cent rise in the value of trades.
These transactions were executed in 18 deals, in contrast to the 14 deals carried out in the previous trading day, showing a 28.6 per cent improvement in the number of deals.
At the close of business, CSCS Plc remained the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 1.2 billion units worth N22.3 billion, UBN Property Plc was in second place with 1.1 billion units valued at N1.1 billion, and Geo-Fluids Plc stood in third place with 696.9 units worth N1.3 billion.
Also, CSCS Plc ended the trading session as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 1.2 billion units worth N22.3 billion, VFD Group occupied the second spot with 26.6 million units valued at N5.9 billion, and Aradel Holdings Plc was in third place with 7.6 million units worth N3.0 billion.
