The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday revealed that inflation rate in Nigeria moderated to 18.02 per cent in September 2025.

In its data today, the agency said this was 2.10 per cent lower than the 20.12 per cent recorded in August 2025.

Business Post reports that it is the sixth consecutive month the average prices of goods and services were easing since April 2025.

It is also the first time the country’s inflation rate was going below 20 per cent in three years, supported by the rebasing of the base year of the inflation and what makes up the inflation basket.

In the Consumer Price Index (CPI) released some minutes ago, the stats office said last month, the food inflation decreased 5.0 per cent to 16.87 per cent in September from 21.87 per cent in August 2025 due to a decline in the average prices of maize (corn) grains, garri, beans, millet, potatoes, onions, eggs, tomatoes, fresh pepper, etc.
