NSCDC Special Squad Nabs Pipeline Vandals in Ondo

Some pipeline vandals in Ondo State have been apprehended by a special squad in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) controlled by the Commandant General, Mr Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

The team known as the Commandant General Special Intelligence Squad arrested the syndicate that specialises in vandalism of petroleum pipelines, illegal bunkering, illegal dumpsites and storage facilities at Olowo Community.

It was gathered that the suspected illegal bunkers were nabbed acting on credible intelligence and recovered some exhibits from the crime scene.

The items seized were eight suspects, a black Toyota Sequoia with registration number Lagos APP 134 DX loaded with 70 kegs of 25 litres of adulterated AGO. Also taken from them were 28 Jerry Cans of 25 litres each filled with suspected adulterated AGO, 6 pumping machines, one counting machine, 19 kegs (25 litres) of adulterated AGO, 5 drums (200 litres) of suspected AGO, 2 drums (200 litres) half-filled with AGO, 2 drums (200litres) quarter filled with AGO, 2 storage tanks (3500 litres) of adulterated AGO, among others.

An underground storage tank with four compartments of 20,800 litres of adulterated petroleum products was also discovered at the crime scene.

The team also recovered a truck loaded with 45,000 litres of suspected adulterated petroleum products with a forged waybill at Ore, along the Benin/Lagos Expressway in Ondo along with 2 suspects.
