Into the new year, the NSE is set to continue its contribution to the country’s economic recovery as performance of the Nigerian capital market mirrors that of the larger economy which has faced many challenges in recent years.

This it plans to do with the execution of its 2018 – 2021 Corporate Strategy, which is tailored to enhance customers experience across the value chain, reorganization for success, and capitalizing on mission critical strategic initiatives such as the planned demutualization.

The review will take a look at the market environment in 2019 to pinpoint the strategic performance across business development ranging from listings, index launch, strategic projects among others, and will also extend to market initiatives such as business partnerships, innovation, advocacy, and more.

The exchange will also give a review of the performance last year across the several market instruments which cover – Equities, Fixed Income, and Exchange Traded Products.

The Exchange in 2019 orchestrated ground-breaking investment forums and listed some of Africa’s largest companies such as MTN Nigeria, SAHCO Plc, and Airtel Nigeria among others.

The bourse also saw market capitalisation increase by 20.42 percent to N12.92 trillion from N10.72 trillion 2018. There was also increase recorded in turnover, which rose by 389.26 percent when compared with the previous year.

Capital raising in the exchange was dominated by the federal government, which is responsible for 60 percent of bond issuances during the period in a bid to finance fiscal and infrastructure deficits.
