Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, on Friday, December 23, 2016, presented the 2017 budget to the state’s House of Assembly.
Mr Okorocha, who christened the appropriation bill ‘Budget of Consolidation and Continuity II’, explained that he hopes to move the state to greater heights next year.
He explained that the amount he expects to use to run the state for the 2017 fiscal year is around N131 billion.
The Governor, in his analysis, informed the state lawmakers that while recurrent expenditure will gulp N53 billion, the capital expenditure is expected to take N78 billion.
According to him, the state is hopes to fund the appropriation bill from the monthly federal allocations, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) amongst others.
Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Mr Acho Ihim, while receiving the documents, commended the Governor for his efforts in transforming the state.
He promised that the hollowed chamber would look into the budget and continue to cooperate with the executive for smooth running of the state.
The Governor was accompanied to the presentation by members of his administration.
