Pascal Dozie, 5 Others Retire from MTN Nigeria Board

Leading telecommunications firm in the country, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, has announced the retirement of six non-executive directors on its board with effect from Monday, September 2, 2019.

In a notice to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday, the company said the affected persons were leaving their positions following the expiration of their tenure and in compliance with applicable codes of corporate governance.

These directors include Chairman of MTN Nigeria, Mr Pascal Dozie; the Vice Chairman, Mr Sani Bello; Mr Victor Odili, Non-Executive Director; Mallam Ahmed Dasuki, Non-Executive Director; Mr Babatunde Folawiyo, Non-Executive Director; and Mr Gbenga Oyebode, Non-Executive Director.

In the statement, the firm expressed its gratitude to the directors for their immense contributions to the growth of MTN Nigeria since 2001, when they joined the company at the inception of its operations in the country, wishing them well in the their future endeavours.

“The Board of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc would like to express its appreciation to the six directors for their commitment, leadership and extensive contributions to the success of the company since their appointment in 2001.

“The Board wishes them the very best in all their future endeavours,” the disclosure on Wednesday said.

During his time as Chairman, MTN Nigeria listed its shares on the NSE. This was done by introduction on May 16, 2019, after the company was forced to as part of settlement of a fine imposed on it by Nigerian government for failing to disconnect its unregistered subscribers.

FrieslandCampina, Others Shrink NASD OTC Securities Exchange by 1.14%
