One of the leading underwriting companies in Nigeria, AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, recently sponsored the SME 100 Africa Business Pitch in Lagos.

It was part of the insurer’s support for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector in the country, which is described as the backbone of the economy.

The competition, held on March 29, 2024, at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, was won by Calcium Hub, owned by a snail farming expert, Ms Lawon Ajoke. The company was awarded N1 million as grant.

The first and second runners-up of the competition went home with N200,000 each and the winners were also given access to various tools and resources provided by the conference sponsors and partners.

The event was witnessed by different business experts, including the Head of SME and Wealth at AXA Mansard, Ms Funmilayo Kunle-Komolafe; and the Head of Marketing at AXA Mansard, Mr Olusesan Ogunyooye, among others.
