The poultry business has been described as one of the avenues to tackle the various economic challenges facing Nigeria, as it could stimulate the economy if properly harnessed.

This was the view of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, when he spoke at the Poultry Management Workshop 2023 organised by the Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited (NAFRL) at the Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria Conference Hall on Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

The head of the Nigerian Army disclosed that authorities of the organisation were using the poultry business as one of the Quick Impact Projects for post-service plans for both serving and retired personnel.

Mr Yahaya, represented at the event by the Chief of Logistics of the Nigerian Army, Major General Omotomilola Akintade, reiterated that the workshop was timely as the NA was striving harder to key into the federal government policy on agricultural revolution to arrest food scarcity and boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the country.

In his welcome address, the Executive Director of NAFRL, Major General Mile Durowaiye, stressed that the main purpose of establishing the organisation was to spearhead the NA’s involvement in the federal government agricultural programme and expose the NA to agriculture and its full value chain.

The workshop with the theme Gaining An Edge in Poultry Management was attended by experts in poultry management, senior officers, personnel of the Nigerian Army formations and units, sister services, paramilitary agencies and government parastatals, among others.
