An initiative designed to offer 10 bonus shares to students who subscribe to the initial public offering (IPO) of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has been launched by the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF).

This scheme, known as the Student Share Grant Initiative, is open to students aged 18 years and above in public and private tertiary institutions across Nigeria,

It is to help young Nigerians begin their investment journey early while deepening financial literacy and encouraging a culture of long-term wealth creation.

It aims to introduce thousands of young people to the principles of saving, responsible investing and ownership through direct participation in the ongoing Dangote Refinery IPO, which commenced on September 14, 2026, and is expected to close on October 13, 2026.

During the IPO, the Lagos-based oil facility is offering its shares to retail investors at a unit price of N525, with a minimum subscription of 10 units, amounting to N5,250.

Under the new programme introduced by the ADF, an eligible student who successfully completes the required verification process and subscribes for a minimum of 10 DPRP shares through the designated platform, ipo.alikodangotefoundation.org, will qualify for the Foundation to fund an application for an additional 10 DPRP shares in the student’s name at no additional cost.

The initiative forms part of ADF’s broader commitment to empowering young Nigerians through education, economic inclusion and practical financial knowledge. By combining investor education with real-life participation in the capital market, the Foundation hopes to cultivate a generation of informed investors and responsible wealth creators.

“Supporting young people goes beyond providing access to education. It must also involve equipping them with the knowledge and opportunities to participate in economic growth and wealth creation.

“Through this initiative, we want students to understand the value of saving, responsible investing and long-term ownership. Our goal is to help them develop an investment mindset early in life,” Mr Aliko Dangote stated.

According to him, exposing young people to investment opportunities at an early stage can significantly influence their future financial decisions and encourage greater participation in the formal economy.

“When young people understand ownership and investment early, they are better positioned to make informed financial choices, build wealth responsibly and contribute more actively to economic development,” he added.

The chief executive of ADF, Mrs Zouera Youssoufou, said the initiative bridges the gap between financial education and practical experience, noting that, “Financial literacy becomes more impactful when people can apply what they learn.

“This programme allows eligible students to experience first-hand how the investment process works, from verification and subscription to allotment and ownership, while reinforcing the importance of responsible participation in the capital market.”

“We are seeking to inspire a lifelong interest in financial literacy, investing and asset ownership among young Nigerians. The knowledge and experience gained through this initiative can serve as a foundation for sound financial decision-making throughout their lives,” she added.
