Three stocks expanded the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Tuesday marginally by 0.02 per cent after a period in the danger zone.
These securities were FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, NASD Plc, and Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Group Plc.
The trio increased the NASD unlisted security index (NSI) by 0.11 points to 732.23 points from 732.12 points and inflated the market capitalisation of the NASD Exchange by N100 million to N636.44 billion from N636.34 billion.
FrieslandCampina was the day’s highest price gainer, rising by 73 kobo or 0.6 per cent to settle at N121.27 per unit compared with the previous value of N122 per unit.
NASD Plc gained 35 kobo or 9.1 per cent to sell for N3.85 per share in contrast to N3.50 per share it closed on Monday, while NGX Group Plc appreciated by 4 kobo or 0.3 per cent to quote at N16.06 per unit versus the earlier day’s N16.02 per unit.
However, Central Securities Clearing Systems Plc suffered a 17 kobo or 1.1 per cent loss during the trading day to finish at N16 per share in contrast to N16.17 per share it closed on Monday.
Yesterday, the trading volume went south by 26.4 per cent as a total of 1.6 million units of shares exchanged hands compared with the 2.2 million units of shares transacted a day earlier.
Also, the trading value went down by 22.6 per cent to N27.7 million from N35.7 million, while the number of deals increased by 15 per cent to 23 deals from 20 deals recorded at the previous session.
At the close of trades, Geo Fluids Plc remained the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) with 1.0 billion stocks for N700.1 million, followed by NGX Group Plc with 421.2 million units valued at N8.7 billion, and Food Concepts Plc, which has transacted 295.2 million units worth N386.1 million.
But the most active stock by value (year-to-date) remained NGX Group Plc with the sale of 421.2 million units of its securities for N8.7 billion. VFD Group Plc remained in the second spot with 6.6 million units of its securities worth N2.2 billion, while FrieslandCampina occupied the third spot with 8.2 million units valued at N1.0 billion.
