Efforts would be made to remodel the Nigerian economy for growth through job creation, food, security and poverty reduction, President Bola Tinubu has assured.
Mr Tinubu gave this assurance at the 29th Nigeria Economic Summit in Abuja on Monday. The event is themed Pathways to Sustainable Economic Transformation and Inclusion.
In his speech, the President said, “We are committed to establishing a government underpinned by the principles of impartiality and guided by the rule of law. We are focused on remodelling our economy for growth through job creation, food security and poverty reduction.”
He also assured the private sector (domestic and foreign investors) that his administration would clear all the foreign exchange forward contracts and obligations.
Mr Tinubu also assured the private sector that his administration would respect the sanctity of contracts and engage them in implementing its eight-point agenda.
While addressing the foreign exchange market crisis, he informed investors to expect, in the coming days, an initiative aimed at deepening liquidity in the system and restoring confidence in the economy, emphasising that the country must have a clear line between fiscal and monetary policies.
The President restated his commitment to a public-private partnership model in driving the economy like it was obtainable in Lagos State when he served as Governor (1999-2007).
