Nearly two months after Africa Prudential Plc commenced the process of making registration for e-dividend easier for investors, especially those in the retail segment, United Securities Limited has joined the league.

The registrar, in a message to investors, said the registration for e-dividend can now be done entirely online without the need to physically visit any of its offices.

According to the notice, the company said all that a shareholder of the organisations paying dividends under its belt needs to do is to visit its website through a link to complete and submit the e-mandate form.

“You can now complete and submit your e-mandate form on our website from the comfort of your home. No need to download, print or scan.

“If you are yet to mandate your shareholding account, simply follow these steps using your mobile phone or laptop:

“STEP 1. Visit our website using this link

“STEP 2. Complete the e-Mandate form online

“STEP 3. Click Submit

“Claiming your dividend has never been this easy!” United Securities, which said it remains “committed to providing you world-class investor services,” stated in the disclosure sighted by Business Post.

Recall that in July, Africa Prudential announced that investors can now process their e-dividend mandate registration on the internet.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been at the forefront of reducing the amount of unclaimed dividend in the capital market because it has a negative effect on the economy.

This is because the funds that should be used by beneficiaries to propel economic activities in the country are left in the capital market especially when such investors are short of funds to spend.

The SEC introduced the online dividend payment to reduce unclaimed dividends in the system and also to control fraud. With the e-dividend policy, shareholders get their money directly into their bank accounts.
