Unlisted Securities Index Retains Upward Trajectory

The upward trajectory witnessed at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange was maintained on Thursday, October 13, as the increase in the share price of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc kept the market higher by 0.34 per cent.

FrieslandCampina, which has attracted the attention of traders lately at the exchange, gained N1.66 yesterday to settle at N75.00 per unit compared with the previous day’s closing price of N73.34 per unit.

The improvement in the company’s stock increased the value of the bourse by N3.24 billion to N958.19 billion from the N954.95 billion it closed on Wednesday.

In the same vein, the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) grew by 2.47 points at the close of transactions to 727.88 points from 725.41 points.

However, the trading activity decreased yesterday as the volume of securities went down by 85.6 per cent to 31,181 units from the 215,854 units traded in the preceding session.

Also, there was a slump in the value of shares by 87.2 per cent to N5.2 million from the N42.9 million reported in the midweek session, while the number of trades depleted by 65 per cent to seven deals from the 20 deals executed a day earlier.

At the close of business, AG Mortgage Bank Plc remained the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 2.3 billion units valued at N1.2 billion, Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc stood in second place with 687.7 million units worth N14.3 billion, and Mixta Real Estate Plc was in third place with 178.1 million units valued at N313.4 million.

CSCS Plc retained its spot as the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 687.7 million units valued at N14.3 billion, followed by VFD Group Plc with the sale of 28.1 million units worth N7.4 billion, and FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc was in third place for transacting 14.4 million units valued at N1.7 billion.
