Unlisted Securities Market Dips 0.24% Amid Low Trades

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed the midweek session in the negative territory as it dropped 0.24 per cent on Wednesday, February 7, reducing the value of the trading platform by N3.54 billion from the N1,508.42 trillion it quoted at the previous session to N1,504.88 trillion.

Also, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) depreciated during the session by 2.62 points to end the day at 1,110.15 points as against the 1,112.77 points it recorded in the previous session.

FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc contributed to the loss reported by the unlisted securities market, outshining the growth posted by the duo of Air Liquide Plc and Afriland Plc.

FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc lost N1.64 yesterday to close at N75.50 per unit against N77.14 per unit on Tuesday, and CSCS Plc declined by 10 Kobo to trade at N18.54 per share versus the preceding day’s N18.64 per share.

However, Air Liquide Plc made a 70 Kobo appreciation to sell at N8.00 per share versus the previous session’s N7.30 per share, and Afriland Plc gained 2 Kobo to end at N4.11 per unit compared with the previous day’s N4.09 per unit.

The volume of securities traded at the session on Wednesday went down by 77.3 per cent to 200,715 units from 844,375 units, the value of shares traded at the bourse shrank by 96.7 per cent to N2.9 million from N88.9 million, and the number of deals decreased by 46.4 per cent to 15 deals from 28 deals.

At the close of business, IPWA Plc was the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 48.9 million units sold for N24.4 million, trailed by UBN Property Plc with 36.2 million units worth N63.2 million, and Geo-Fluids with 30.1 million units valued at N73.7 million.

Also, Aradel Plc remained the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) with 541,167 units sold for N841.3 million, followed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc with 2.5 million units valued at N195.2 million, and Geo-Fluids Plc with 30.1 million units worth N73.7 million.
