The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange size grew to N522.39 billion on Monday, as the market opened the week with a 0.28 per cent appreciation.
At the previous session, the value of the market had closed at N520.93 billion but after trading activities wrapped up yesterday, it expanded by N1.46 billion and this was buoyed by the gains recorded by FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc.
The share price of the milk production company increased at the market on Monday by N1.49 or 1.23 per cent to close at N121.50 per share as against the previous N120.01 per unit.
Data from the exchange also showed that at the close of business yesterday, the benchmark index of the unlisted securities market, NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI), increased by 0.28 per cent or 1.98 points to 711.15 points from 709.17 points.
On the activity chart, the indicators pointed south as the total volume of securities traded by investors on the first trading day of the week dipped by 98.8 per cent to 8,632 units from 739,689 units of securities traded at the previous session.
These transactions came from five deals executed during the session at the exchange belonging to FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc (three deals), Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc and Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc, with one deal each.
Business Post reports that the trading value yesterday went down by 94.7 per cent to N802,598 from N15.3 million realised at the previous session.
ARM Life Plc closed the session as the company with the highest trading volume (year-to-date) with 7.4 billion units of its shares worth N4.6 billion. CSCS Plc was in second place with 200.8 million units worth N2.7 billion, while Food Concept Plc held the third position with 125.1 million units of its shares worth N88.1 million.
ARM Life Plc also remained as the firm with the highest trading value (year-to-date) for transacting 7.4 billion securities worth N4.6 billion. NDEP Plc was the next with 8.8 million units of its securities valued at N2.7 billion, while CSCS filled the next slot after trading 200.8 million units valued at N2.7 billion.
