Unlisted Stocks Close 0.04% Southwards Monday

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed the first session of the week downwards by 0.04 per cent on Monday, January 16.

The shaky performance in the stock price of UBN Property Plc led to the downfall of unlisted stocks in Nigeria yesterday.

The property investment firm lost 7 Kobo during the trading session to settle at 71 Kobo per unit compared with last Friday’s value of 78 Kobo per unit.

Consequently, the market capitalisation of the bourse depreciated by N400 million at the close of transactions to N927.13 billion from the N927.53 billion it quoted at the previous session.

In the same vein, it shrank the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) by 0.30 basis points when the market closed for the session to 705.57 points from 705.87 points.

At the market yesterday, the volume of securities witnessed a 1,693.6 per cent surge to 2.7 million units from the 151,264 units transacted in the preceding session.

However, the value of transactions recorded at the close of trading went down by 67.3 per cent to N2.5 million from N7.8 million, as the number of deals completed during the session went down by 23.1 per cent to 10 deals from the 13 deals carried out in the last trading session.

When the market closed for the day, Geo Fluids Plc was the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 20.4 million units of its stocks valued at N15.5 million. UBN Property Plc stood in second place with a turnover of 9.0 units worth N6.5 million, while FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria was in third place with 523,856 units valued at N35.0 million.

But by value on a year-to-date basis, VFD Group Plc was the most active stock for selling 417,492 units worth N101.9 million, followed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 523,856 units valued at N35.0 million, and Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc with 90,850 units valued at N15.8 million.
