Unlisted Stocks Witness 0.96% Appreciation

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed yet again in the green zone on Tuesday, February 20 as it recorded a 0.96 per cent appreciation, increasing the value of the alternative bourse by N15.13 billion at the close of trading activities to N1.583 trillion from the N1.568 trillion it quoted in the previous session.

In the same vein, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) went up by 11.16 points during the session to trade at 1,167.95 points, in contrast to the preceding day’s 1,156.79 points.

The market breadth index closed negative on Tuesday after the exchange ended with three price losers and two price gainers led by Acorn Petroleum Plc, which moved up by 10 Kobo to settle at N1.20 per unit versus Monday’s closing price of N1.10 per unit, and Aradel Holdings Plc expanded by N75 to quote at N2,526.00 per share versus the previous day’s N2,451.00 per share.

On the flip side, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc weakened yesterday by 50 Kobo to close at N74.50 per share compared with the previous day’s N75.00 per share, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc suffered a loss of 1 Kobo to trade at 21 Kobo per unit versus 22 Kobo per unit, and NASD Plc dropped 50 Kobo to sell at N13.00 per share, in contrast to Monday’s value of N13.50 per share.

On Tuesday, the volume of securities traded by investors increased by 372.6 per cent to 2.6 million units from 550,862 units, the value of shares traded went up by 2,959.9 per cent to N666.4 million from the preceding session’s N21.8 million, and the number of deals grew by 263.6 per cent to 40 deals from 11 deals.

At the close of business, Mixta Real Estate Plc was the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 69.9 million units sold for N114.5 million, IPWA Plc was in second place with 48.9 million units valued at N24.4 million, and Geo-Fluids Plc stood in third place with 42.4 million units worth N104.4 million.

Also, Aradel Holdings Plc was the most traded stock by value (year-to-date) with 1.3 million units worth N2.5 billion, followed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 3.2 million units valued at N246.6 million, and Mixta Real Estate Plc with 69.9 million units sold for N114.5 million.
