A business start-up grant has been given to a visually-impaired woman, Mrs Muyibat Babalola, by the lawmaker representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mrs Tolulope Akande-Sadipe.

At an event in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, the congresswoman also cleared the hospital bills of a constituent, Mr Kunle Olanite, who is suffering from Glaucoma, and gave a chest freezer to a mobility-impaired constituent, Mr Tella Ademola.

She said the funds given to Mr Olanite for his medical treatment and surgical intervention on a diagnosed glaucoma/retinal damage was borne out of his passion for humanity.

According to the Chairman of the House Committee on Diaspora, “This award was given in reference to the medical report obtained from the Oyo State Hospital Management Board.”

“Everybody needs sight for a fruitful existence and where we can prevent sight loss we must support our fellow mankind,” she added.

While Mrs Akande-Sadipe wished the patient a speedy recovery, she equally urged him to make use of the grant exactly for the purpose it is meant for.

Responding on behalf of the recipients, a relative of the patient, Mrs Romoke Olanike, said the lawmaker’s gesture was laced with spiritual connotation.

According to her, when a woman with milk of human kindness practically demonstrates it, it should not be mistaken for politics.
