The governing council of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA) has been dissolved by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.

A member of staff of the institution, who pleaded anonymity, informed Business Post correspondent that the governing council was dissolved by the Governor on Friday.

In recent times, the school has been engulfed with crisis involving its lecturers.

Some members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the school had accused their leader, Dr Sola Fayose, of pursuing a personal interest due to a letter dated April 14, 2017, he wrote to the Governor, advising him to set up a visitation panel to probe the Vice Chancellor, Prof Igbekele Ajibefun, due to alleged financial misappropriation.

They claimed the ASUU chairman of the institution did not get their approval before reporting the VC to the Governor.

Some alleged that he is eyeing a political appointment in the state, saying he is trying to win over Mr Akeredolu.
