An educationist and proprietress of Purplegate Home School in Ojodu, Lagos, Mrs Bola Bamishigbin, has challenged the Federal Government to intensify its support for the education sector.
Mrs Bamishigbin reiterated that government should provide enabling environment for the education sector “because setting up business in Nigeria is not easy.”
She further advised that “if the government makes its laws and policies more flexible, the education sector would be a big deal.”
Speaking recently during her school’s graduation/prize giving day ceremony, Mrs Bamishigbin noted that if the above can be done, the sector would also boost the country’s economy because more foreigners would want to study in “our institutions.”
“My students can compete anywhere in the world. We’ve had students from Canada, US and UK, and their parents still call to show gratitude for the way we impacted on their children. We have all the basic things that a child needs to learn here,” Mrs Bamishigbin boasted.
The school’s graduation ceremony, anchored by popular television personality, Jide Alabi, was graced by veteran actor, Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Dan Imodu (of The Village Headmaster), Ralph Nwadike, Mr Adedamola Kasumu (Lagos State House of Assembly) and Barrister Tunji Bamishigbin, a veteran filmmaker and husband of the school proprietress.
Purplegate Home School caters for children within the ages of three months and 11 years.
Its curricula includes Montessori, ICT, British/Nigerian curriculum, diction and extra-curricular activities like ballet, chess/scrabble, dance, taekwondo, swimming, brigade, music and art.
