A statement issued on Sunday by Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the Governor, Mr Adejuwon Soyinka, disclosed that model schools will be free for exceptionally brilliant students, irrespective of their background.

Mr Soyinka disclosed in the state that the state Governor, who spoke at the closing ceremonies of the Ogun State Summer Camp held at the Model School, Akinale area of Ewekoro, further assured that the state government will subsidise the fee for those who have to pay.

“I know the forms are out right now. I want to encourage our parents to purchase the form and enrol their children in the Model Schools,” Mr Amosun was quoted as saying in the statement.

The Governor said further that, “Considering the facilities available in those schools, I’m sure you will agree with me that it cannot be totally free. But the fee will be subsidised by the state government.”

He also assured that a common standard of quality teaching and learning shall be maintained in all Model Schools in the state irrespective of their location.

In the course of the event, parents whose children participated in the just concluded Summer Camp, took turns to express their appreciation for the quality of learning and teaching that their wards received during the two-week camp period.

One of the parents that spoke at the event, Mr Bode Ojajuni, thanked the state government for the excellent learning environment the students enjoyed in the Model school.

“I brought my chubby boy to the camp thinking that in two weeks, he would have lost weight. But to my surprise, he has even added weight. The boy was over fed,” Mr Ojajuni said.

Other parents who spoke at the event, especially those with special children, also commended the state government for the efficient medical team that was available in the camp.
