17 Passengers Survive Early Morning Boat Mishap in Lagos

About 17 passengers were rescued in an early morning boat mishap in Lagos, a statement issued by the management of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) revealed.

According to the disclosure, a commercial passenger boat capsized near the popular Third Mainland Bridge (TMB) at about 7 am on Monday, February 20, 2023.

The commercial ferry involved in the accident, Fazma logistics, was loaded with 17 passengers.

It was said to have left the Ikorodu ferry terminal at exactly 6:45 am en route to Ebute Ero but unfortunately capsized around the bridge close to the Bariga ferry terminal.

“All the passengers were rescued alive by first responders, including officers of LASWA boat recovery operations commenced immediately while the boat captain is being interrogated and investigation is ongoing,” the statement added.
