9Mobile Drives for Educational Transformation in Nigeria

One of Nigeria’s leading and youth-friendly telecommunciations service company, 9mobile, has praised the resilience and ingenuity of Nigerian youths, stating that it is committed to helping the youth population of the country achieve their goals, particularly in the field of education.

This was disclosed during the commemoration of the 2019 United Nations International Youth Day themed “Transforming Education”, in which the telco reiterated that it would continue to support projects and innovations that makes education more inclusive and accessible for Nigerian youths.

This year’s theme draws global attention to efforts to make education more relevant, equitable and inclusive for all youth, including efforts by youth themselves

The Acting Director, Marketing, 9mobile, Layi Onafowokan, explained that the brand was proud of its creative and transformational interventions in youth-focused education and would not relent in its support.

“In line with the theme for this year’s celebration, ‘Transforming Education’, at 9mobile, we are proud to say that we have been consistent in our efforts towards making quality, transformational education accessible to all as part of our contribution towards achieving Goal 4 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” he stated.

Taking a practical step, he made it known that the mobile network provider has solutions and interventions across its platform such as Cliqlite prepaid package designed for children and teenagers aged 8-15 as well as its Adopt-a-School and Code Lagos Initiatives serving to improve quality education and provide infrastructural support to select schools and set-up computer coding centres.

9mobile further noted that it has partnered with online learning portal, Siyavula which aids students in learning mathematics, and 9mobile Telecommunications Engineering Postgraduate Programme (9TEPP) situated in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Onafowokan then assured that 9mobile would not rest on its oars, “We will not relent in our efforts towards providing access to quality education for the youth and we also congratulate the young people of Nigeria who continue to put in the hard work and innovation that drives the development of the country.”

The United Nations International Youth Day (IYD) is celebrated on August 12 annually. It provides an opportunity for governments and other stakeholders to draw attention to youth issues worldwide. During IYD,concerts, workshops, cultural events, and meetings involving national and local government officials and youth organizations take place around the world.
